DUMBARTON have been beaten 4-1 by Edinburgh City in tonight’s cinch League One playoff semi-final first leg at Ainslie Park.
The home side opened the scoring after 11 minutes through Ousman See, who scored for City at Dumbarton in last season’s playoffs.
They then doubled their lead, Gregor Buchanan deemed to have put through his own goal, after 27 minutes.
Sons looked to rally after making a double substitution at half time, and Ross MacLean (pictured) got one back after 64 minutes with a header.
But only seven minutes later, the two-goal deficit was restored by See’s second goal of the evening.
And in injury time, John Robertson gave Dumbarton an even greater mountain to climb in the second leg by scoring City’s fourth.
Sons simply have to respond emphatically in Saturday’s second leg to stand any chance of overturning the deficit. Kick-off for that game is at 3pm.
In the other semi-final tonight, Annan Athletic beat Forfar Athletic 1-0 at Galabank.
