DUMBARTON make the short journey to Cappielow Park in Greenock tonight for their second Betfred Cup sectional match against Morton.
Spirits are high after Saturday’s 1-0 victory away to Annan Athletic which kicked off their campaign in the group.
And manager Jim Duffy, who returns to the ground where he was manager from 2014 to 2018, hopes that things can kick on from there.
He said: “It was of course pleasing to pick up the result on Saturday against a team from a league below ourselves.
“Now we test ourselves against one in a higher division, as we do on the other two matchdays in this group.
“We know what a tall order it will be, but we have given ourselves a platform with Saturday’s result and I hope to see further progress tonight.”
Tonight’s match has a 7.45pm kick-off and will go to a penalty shootout for a bonus point if it is drawn after 90 minutes.
Dumbarton will go top of the group with only a draw tonight, even if they lose on penalties. Motherwell, who currently occupy first place on goal difference, do not play this evening.
The other match in the group is between Queen of the South and Annan Athletic at Palmerston Park, with each of those two teams having lost their opening fixture.
Doubts remain over the fitness of Conor Scullion and Isaac Layne, although the former is thought to be close to being able to play.
Rory Loy remains out, but Matthew Shiels is added to the squad after being successfully registered in time to play following his loan move from Rangers.
Admission tonight is £12 for adults and £6 for concessions. To gain access, tickets must first be purchased at the ticket booth beside the main stand turnstiles on Sinclair Street.
Sons fans will be accommodated in sections F and G of the main stand – the ones closest to the Wee Dublin End. Unfortunately there is no Sons Supporters Trust bus to the game.
Grant Irvine is the referee tonight, with assistance from Daniel McFarlane and David Dunne.
