DUMBARTON EXIT SPFL TRUST TROPHY

Tuesday 23rd August 2022

DUMBARTON’S SPFL Trust Trophy campaign has ended tonight with a hefty defeat from Rangers B, who have netted seven goals without reply at Dumbarton Football Stadium.

Sons started the match with seven changes to the team who have played the last three games of a successful league campaign to date.

But that team went in 4-0 down at half time, with Alex Lowry scoring twice for Rangers B, with Charlie McCann and Zack Lovelace also on target.

Two changes were made by Dumbarton at half time, but Lowry added a fifth for the ‘home’ side to complete his hat-trick soon after the interval.

Aaron Lyall and Stephen Kelly added further goals in the later part of the evening.

Our SPFL Trust Trophy campaign may be over, but the league season continues, with Dumbarton hoping to continue their good start.

The next fixture is at home to Elgin City on Saturday with a 3pm kick-off.
