DUMBARTON failed to build on a bright start at home to Peterhead today, having to settle for a 1-1 draw in a vital encounter.

They started brilliantly when Joshua Oyinsan scored the opening goal in only five minutes, thrashing home a 20-yard shot.

Sons had plenty of the ball, but struggled to create many clear chances against a resilient visiting side.

And the price was paid a minute from half time when Russell McLean headed the equaliser.

There was no further scoring in an evenly-contested second half.

Dumbarton now have an away double header against the top two in cinch League One, starting away to Airdrie next Saturday.
