DUMBARTON and Alloa Athletic shared the spoils with a 1-1 draw at the Moreroom.com Stadium.
Manager Stevie Farrell was able to field an unchanged team for this first match since the stadium was renamed, seeking a fourth league win in a row. Striker Ross MacLean was on the subs bench after recovering from injury.
The first 20 minutes were even before a Gregor Buchanan header from a Joe McKee free kick was deflected for a corner, which Conner Duthie came close to netting.
The visitors broke away and Duthie was booked for bringing down Euan Henderson, who had to be replaced by Cameron O’Donnell. He brought out the first save of the game when his swerving shot was tipped over by keeper Sam Ramsbottom. The resulting corner was headed wide by Mark Durnan.
In the 44th minute a McKee shot found Duthie, but his shot was saved by keeper David Hutton. The visitors raced to the other end and Steven Boyd opened the scoring right on half-time.
In the 54th minute Carlo Pignatiello won the ball and drove forward, then played it to Edin Lynch who tried to find McKee but Hutton gathered. A minute later Duthie latched on to a long ball but his volley was pushed behind. Next Buchanan tried to set up Ryan McGeever but he could not reach it.
In the 65th minute a Callum Wilson free kick led to a blocked shot, before a Lynch effort was saved. Soon after a Buchanan header went over the bar as Sons pressed for the equaliser. MacLean then replaced McKee, and soon after a Wilson cross reached him but his shot was off target.
In the 78th minute Sons made a double switch, with David Hopkirk and Ryan Schiavone replacing Orsi and Duthie. A minute later they equalised when Paddy Boyle (pictured) headed home a corner. Soon after Maclean missed the target with a volley, then Ramsbottom saved from Mouhamed Niang.
Full-time arrived with these two form teams level at 1-1.
