DUMBARTON AND BRECHIN DRAW

Tuesday 16th July 2013

ENJOYING another solid workout ahead of the new season, Dumbarton drew 1-1 in a friendly against Brechin City this evening.

The closed doors match took place in glorious evening sunshine at the University of Stirling playing fields.

Dumbarton had more chances in the first half, and went ahead on 16 minutes when Jordan Kirkpatrick’s inswinging corner was firmly headed home by Ross Smith. Both men are trialists.

After the break Second Division opponents Brechin began to threaten more, testing Sons’ defensive concentration.

The Hedgemen equalised from a low, firmly struck penalty on 55 minutes, following an infringement on the edge of the area.

Sons had a couple of chances to go ahead again as the game drew to a close, but could not quite find the winning goal.
