AS part of its commitment to safety and good health, Dumbarton Football Club is encouraging everyone who can to to download NHS Scotland’s new contact tracing app to help suppress the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19).
The Protect Scotland app from NHS Scotland’s Test and Protect is a free, mobile phone app designed to help us protect each other, to reduce the spread of coronavirus and avoid to further lockdowns.
The app will alert you if you have been in close contact with another app user who tests positive for coronavirus. And if you test positive, it can help in determining contacts that you may have otherwise missed while keeping your information private and anonymous.
You can download the app by visiting https://www.protect.scot
Using the Protect Scotland app, along with sticking to current public health measures, will help us all stay safe when we meet up, socialise, work or travel.
It is important to stress that new app does NOT store data about you or your whereabouts, and is therefore safe from a privacy point of view.
Unfortunately, older mobile phones (earlier than 6.0 fxorvthose with iPhones) do not have the technology to transmit or receive the identifier beacons. This means it is unlikely the problem can be fixed for people with iOS 12 or other older operating systems, though that is being re-investigated at present.
Please download the app if you can by going to https://www.protect.scot. It only takes a minute or so to do this – and it will help protect you and others.
