DISAPPOINTMENT FOR SONS AT COWDEN

Saturday 4th April 2015

DUMBARTON put in an uninspired performance away against Cowdenbeath this afternoon, going down 3-0 in the end.

A low-key first half saw the home side taking more of the initiative after early Sons pressure, with the visitors pressing forward later on.

However, it was Cowdenbeath who opened the scoring just before the break.

Danny Rogers saved the initial effort from Kudus Oyenuga, but Lewis Toshney was there to put the rebound in for simple 1-0 lead.

Shortly after the restart things got worse for Dumbarton from a very similar move.

Once again an Oyenuga drive was stopped, this time for Sean Higgins to pounce on the rebound and add a second goal for Cowden.

The final blow came from ex-Son Colin Nish, heading home into an empty net after a neat move against an exposed defence.

Overall, it was a lacklustre performance by the men from the Rock. Equally, the Blue Brazil, fighting for their lives, put in a determined showing.

Next up for Dumbarton is a home tussle against promotion-chasing Hibernian at the Rock on Wednesday night, 8th April.
