PARTICK Thistle inflicted a 3-0 defeat on Dumbarton away at Firhill this afternoon, though the final scoreline was a harsh judgement on a game that was close fought overall.
An early goal for the Jags courtesy of Steven Lawless on 9 minutes set Sons a hard task. They battled well, but failed to capitalise on a couple of chances to go into the break on even terms.
In the second half Partick began to assert their dominance in the middle of the park and moving forward. When Lawless made it 2-0 with a good strike on 74 minutes it was effectively game over.
Kris Doolan added a third goal seven minutes later, to seal what ended up being a comfortable victory for the home side.
Dumbarton now have to pick themselves up for another important away game on Tuesday night, 12th March, against Hamilton Academicals.
