DUMBARTON’S first new signing of the 2020/21 close season has arrived, in the shape of striker Denny Johnstone, who arrives from Falkirk.
The 25-year-old spent part of last season on loan to Stranraer where his game time was cut short by the early end to the campaign.
He signed for Birmingham City from Celtic aged 19 and played twice in the Championship for the Midlands club. He also went on loan to Macclesfield Town, Cheltenham Town and Burton Albion.
He was then on loan to Morton under Jim Duffy’s management and had the best spell of his career to date, scoring 17 goals in 43 games for the Greenock side.
His next stop on a permanent basis was Colchester United before he returned north to play for St Johnstone and then Morton again.
Jim said: “Denny put in some excellent performances for Morton when I was manager there and I’m optimistic we can see the same from him again.
“He’s not had the best of luck in recent years but he’s ready to play for us and at 25, his best years in football are hopefully ahead of him.
“I’m looking forward to seeing him play.”
