DEFEAT IN THE CAPITAL

Two second-half goals consigned Dumbarton to a defeat at Spartans this afternoon.

Sons were on top in the first-half but failed to make their pressure count with David Wilson and Matty Shiels missing the target from promising positions.

The visitors were made to pay after an hour when Cammy Russell got the finishing touch for Spartans and despite Sons pressure from then, Bradley Whyte secured three points for the visitors with a few minutes to go.

It’s Scottish Cup duty for Dumbarton this weekend when Highland League side Banks O’Dee visit G82 on Saturday.
