THE pressure is right back on Dumbarton in the Ladbrokes Championship, following a disappointing 2-0 loss against fellow strugglers Livingston at the Tony Macaroni Arena this afternoon.
The home side applied early pressure on Sons, and eventually went 1-0 in front just before the half hour, when defensive frailties allowed Liam Buchanan to convert a chance from close range.
Dumbarton have a history of going behind against Livingston and then clawing their way back into the game to seize a result. This time it was not to be, however.
Immediately after the break, Sons were wasteful in possession and never found the break back that they so urgently needed.
Then Jordan White wrapped up the game for Livi on 83 minutes. A long ball forward from the home ‘keeper went straight to White. He held off Frazer Wright to poke the ball past Jamie Ewings for 2-0.
There was no way back after that. The result leaves Sons in eighth place, just one point ahead of today’s opponents, with two games in hand.
The defeat means that a result against Alloa Athletic in the re-arranged home match on Tuesday night, 8th March, is even more vital for Dumbarton.
