Dumbarton Football Club are delighted to announce that Declan Byrne has signed a new one-year deal with the club.
The 26-year-old joined Sons last Summer and has made 23 appearance this season in a campaign that has been hampered by injury.
The forward has missed nearly five months of action after struggling with a knee injury that had him ruled out between October and February before he missed another month between March and April.
Byrne has still managed to find the net six times, including the opening effort against Bonnyrigg Rose on Saturday as Dumbarton earned a 2-0 victory which was his first goal since September.
Sons boss Stevie Farrell said: “What Declan offers us is completely unique with his constant running and not giving defenders a moments peace.
“He has had his problems with injury this season but with that behind him we are looking for him to have a strong end to the current campaign and beyond.
“We haven’t lost a game in which Deco has scored in and if he had stayed fit, I am confident he would have been well into double figures.
“Goalscorers at this level are hard to come by and to have Declan signed up is a great bit of business.”
