DUMBARTON secured a vital three points with a 2-0 win against local rivals Greenock Morton at the Bet Butler Stadium this afternoon.
In the opening 45 minutes Sons enjoyed significant periods of dominance but struggled to find a killer blow in the final third.
Then on the stroke of half time Bryan Prunty gave the home side the lead from the penalty spot, after Reece Hands was adjudged by the referee to have lived up to his surname in the area.
Morton came back into the game somewhat after the break, but Dumbarton were solid enough to claim a crucial win, topped off by a neat debut goal from Chris Kane towards the end.
Next up for Sons in a visit to Central Park on Saturday 11th January and another important Championship game against Cowdenbeath.
