CRAIG MCPHERSON LEAVES DFC

Monday 27th January 2020

CRAIG McPHERSON, assistant manager to Jim Duffy during his tenure as Dumbarton manager, has left the club for a new post.

‘Hagi’, a popular figure with players and staff at DFC, is joining the youth academy setup at Rangers.

The 48-year-old had actually been with Sons almost continuously since September 2018, a month before Jim became manager. He also worked with Stevie Aitken during the final weeks of his tenure, leaving briefly when Aitken left before his return as part of Jim’s team.

He was also Jim’s assistant with Morton when they operated together there between 2014 and 2018, lifting the League One title in their first season.

Jim said: “I am sorry to see Hagi go, especially having worked with him for so long, but this was a great opportunity for him and we could not stand in his way.

“Myself and the club will now begin the process of seeking out a new assistant and we know we have to move fast on this front.”

We will keep our supporters posted as and when a new assistant is appointed.

Everybody at the club wishes Craig every success in his new post, thanks him for his efforts, and assures him of a warm welcome at DFC in the future.
