COMMUNITY : HALF WAY SHOOTOUT

Friday 20th October 2017

OUR sponsors at YOU Radio have been busy recently on the community front with the introduction of the half-time schools competition called the Half Way Shootout.

The format of the event is simple; both teams have five attempts running with a ball from the half-way line to score against their opposition goalie, in 10 seconds or less.

The competition kicked off at the YOUR Radio 103FM Stadium last Saturday when St Mirren were our guests, when Clydebank High School came up against Vale of Leven Academy.

The Bankies won the contest 5-1.

The next challenge will be during the break at next Saturday’s home game against Dundee United when Dumbarton Academy play St Peter the Apostle High School.

Neil Stewart from YOUR Radio explains the format: “When we approached the club about the competition, everyone was very enthusiastic about it and we are all delighted to have the local schools involved.

“We are working with Morton too and the winners of the Dumbarton competition will play the winners from the Greenock challenge later in the year.

“All being well the Dumbarton final will take place on the 11th of November at the Irn Bru Cup quarter final against Raith Rovers.”
