CLUB STATEMENT – NEW CHAIRMAN TAKES OVER

Wednesday 27th October 2021

JOHN STEELE has stood down as chairman of Dumbarton FC, with Dr Neil Mackay taking over in the position.

John had been chairman since April 2018, succeeding Les Hope, and has steered the club through the unprecedented times of the last two years.

He has also recently retired from his full-time position as a solicitor in Helensburgh.

We are pleased to welcome Dr Neil to his new role as chairman. He is a lifelong Sons fan and as well as being a director, has also previously served as the club doctor.

He becomes chairman with the unanimous support of the board.

We would like to thank John unreservedly for his work and efforts as chairman of Dumbarton Football Club.

We would also like to place on record our admiration for the way he has steered the board through difficult circumstances and challenging times, not least the management of the finances through the pandemic and the facilitation of the change of ownership.

In reflection of his work and dedication to the club, we have offered him the position of Honorary President of the club and he has graciously accepted this role.
