Following today’s announcement by the SPFL that our final game o the season against Raith Rovers has been switched to a 12.15pm kick-off, the club can confirm Chief Executive Gilbert Lawrie, has written to the Chief Executive of the SPFL in protest at the time change.
Gilbert said: “DFC, whilst recognising the difficulties in satisfying the needs of television broadcasters and the principle of sporting integrity, the club board feel there is little integrity in scheduling our game at 12.15pm given that the fixture cannot have ANY bearing on the Championship promotion or relegation play offs.
“However there will be a significant impact on Dumbarton FC if the new time is upheld for our fixture.
“We have well over one hundred hospitality guests booked with many travelling long distances to attend.
“The 12.15pm kick-off time, if it goes ahead, would be a severe blow to our income streams.”
Gilbert added : “We have been in contact with Raith Rovers who agree with keeping the original kick-off time at 3pm.
“And we have asked the SPFL board to revert to the original time.
“We now await a response from the SPFL and fully expect that both club’s wishes will be respected.”
