FOUR goals may have gone in at one end – but Stevie Farrell was most pleased by the lack of action in front of the other goal for Dumbarton.
The Sons manager said that shutting out Annan Athletic was the most pleasing aspect of his team’s 4-0 win today.
However, that could not take away from his satisfaction at his team’s attacking play, which brought a fine reward.
He said: “It was the clean sheet that pleased me the most. I have said before that we are working on the defensive shape.
“We know at this level that if we defend properly, we have a chance of winning games with the players we have.
“Teams are not playing through us. Today Annan flooded our box with crosses but ouur players are competitive and win these things.
“When we have attacked, we have done so with intensity and speed and it is another really good three points for us today.
“We have the club captain (Ryan McGeever) waiting for a chance, we were missing Ross MacLean and Ryan Wallace today and Ally Love could only play 40 minutes, so it is pleasing to know all of them have to come back.
“Managers should not pick a team; performances by players should pick a team, and they are certainly giving us performances.
“It is a solid start to the season, and we have told the players to enjoy it now, then come in on Tuesday night ready to work hard again.
“We have another difficult game against Stenhousemuir next week and we will have to work hard to ensure we get another result.”
