THE club’s inaugural whisky evening, held in association with Chivas Brothers, proved a roaring success despite the unusual circumstances on Friday evening.
With public gatherings remaining banned due to Covid-19 restrictions, supporters of the event had to tune in via Zoom, with miniature whiskies posted out in advance.
Participants were guided by Sandy Hyslop, director of blending at Chivas Brothers, who has five decades of experience in the whisky industry.
The online event will be hosted by Alex Robertson, head of heritage and education at Chivas Brothers, and it was unanimously agreed that it was a hugely enjoyable evening.
DFC vice-chairman Colin Hosie, who took part himself, said: “Social events as we know them are of course unable to take place at the moment, but we made the best that we could of the evening and the event was a fantastic success.
“Alex and Sandy could not have been more helpful and engaging as part of the evening, giving a fascinating insight into some of Chivas’ leading products.
“We certainly hope we will be able to do this again – and that it will be in person when we do. Once again, our sincere thanks to all involved in organising and supporting this event.”
The event was also a very useful fundraiser for Dumbarton FC. Please keep an eye on the club website for further details of events as they develop and restrictions are gradually lifted.
