Celebrating 25 years at The Rock
DUMBARTON FC is delighted to invite supporters and the wider community to a dinner to celebrate 25 years at the Rock.
The ground, currently known as the Marbill Coaches Stadium, has been our home since 2000, and the event has been planned to mark a quarter of a century.
The date for your diary is Saturday 18th October, at the stadium at 7pm for a 7.30pm start after Sons play Spartans at home in the afternoon.
The evening will consist of a three-course meal supplied by Alex Graham Catering, who also cater for the annual Burns Supper at the stadium.
The entertainment on the night will feature one of Scotland’s highest-rated after-dinner speakers alongside two familiar faces from within our fanbase.
Our headline act will be ex-Motherwell and Morton winger John Gahagan, who since retiring as a footballer has gained a stellar reputation as a speaker.
He has spoken at the Scottish Sports Writers Association and PFA Scotland’s player of the year awards, and has won prizes himself for his ability to entertain.
With his humour and stories from many years in the game, John will be an outstanding act at the dinner.
Sons fan David ‘Kit’ Carson will also be on the bill. Having been at the stadium on day one, and a founding member of the Sons Supporters Trust, there is nobody with greater knowledge of our time at the Rock.
Kit has featured in the national media many a time for his support of Dumbarton, and has a lengthy background in public speaking. We look forward to hearing his account of the past 25 years on the night.
In the chair will be Kit’s fellow long-standing Sons fan, Robert Ryan, who of course was recently at the helm of a calendar of fundraising events as the club survived administration.
He too has a reputation as a top entertainer, not only as a musician but in speaking and MCing. It will be the last of those roles he will perform at the dinner.
Tickets are now on sale via the Fanbase app, costing £50 per ticket, or £350 for a full table of eight. Any enquiries can be made to events@dumbartonfc.co.uk – this should also be the address you use to make us aware of any dietary requirements.
Those attending the dinner are asked to note that some more mature humour may be used during the evening.
We look forward to seeing you to celebrate a quarter of a century at our famous location at the foot of Dumbarton Rock.
