BUCHANAN IS BACK!

Saturday 12th June 2021

DEFENDER Gregor Buchanan has secured a second stint at Dumbarton, signing a two-year deal this morning.

The 31-year-old returns to the club where he spent two years from 2015 to 2017, most of which was with Stevie Farrell as assistant to manager Stevie Aitken.

‘Bucky’ began his senior career at Airdrieonians and also turned out for Dunfermline Athletic before his first move to the Rock.

St Mirren snapped him up from Dumbarton in 2017, and later that season he was part of the Livingston squad which won promotion to what is now the cinch SPFL Premiership.

Spells with Morton, Falkirk and Queen of the South followed, and with Gregor having left the Dumfries side at the end of last season, Sons moved to bring him back.

He is now on course to play his 100th game for Dumbarton this season. He is currently on 77, with three goals to his name.

Manager Stevie Farrell said: “Gregor’s quality as a defender speaks for itself. He was one of the first signings made during my first spell here and I’ve been keen to have him here again.

“He is a classy defender and we’re delighted that he’s pledged his future to us. I know he’s a real favourite with our fans and they’ll be as glad to see him back as we are.”

Look out for an interview with Gregor on the club website later today.
