BRETT BREAKS CLUB RECORD

DURING last Saturday’s 1-0 win away to Albion Rovers, goalkeeper Brett Long broke a Dumbarton FC club record which had stood for more than 60 years.

The shut-out kept by Brett at Cliftonhill was his 10th in the league since joining, in his 18th league game for the club. This makes him the quickest Dumbarton goalkeeper to reach 10 league clean sheets during his stay with Sons.

The previous record was 21 games, which is how long it took Con Murray to reach double figures in the 1957/58 season.

Brett has also now kept at least one clean sheet against every other team in cinch League Two, with the exception of Stenhousemuir. We have only played the Warriors once this season as our meeting with them last month fell victim to the weather.

The list is:

2-0 v Stirling Albion (H, July 30)

4-0 v Annan Athletic (H, August 13)

1-0 v East Fife (A, September 3)

1-0 v Bonnyrigg Rose (H, September 17)

0-0 v Forfar Athletic (A, October 1)

1-0 v Annan Athletic (A, October 29)

2-0 v Stranraer (H, November 5)

4-0 v Elgin City (A, November 12)

2-0 v East Fife (H, December 24)

1-0 v Albion Rovers (A, December 31)

Brett is one of five players in the C&G Systems player of the month vote which takes place before tomorrow’s game against Stirling Albion. The others, in alphabetical order, are defenders Gregor Buchanan and Stuart Carswell, winger Kalvin Orsi and midfielder David Wilson.
