BREAKING NEWS: IAIN RUSSELL IS A SONS PLAYER AGAIN

Friday 12th January 2018

HE’S back — and he’s raring to go.

We can now reveal the news we’ve been teasing you about since yesterday’s #tantalisingthursday — Iain Russell is a Dumbarton player again, 15 years after he first joined the club.

The 35-year-old striker has dramatically reversed his decision to hang up his boots at the end of last season.

And having scored no fewer than 14 goals against Sons since he left in 2006, he is ready to score goals for them again.

He has agreed a deal until the end of the current season, and manager Stevie Aitken said: “We’re delighted.

“We tried to sign Iain last season but he chose to stay full-time. Despite not playing for anybody in the first half of the season, he has kept himself fit and has been training with us and still has a strong appetite for the game.

“He will go straight into the squad for tomorrow’s game with St Mirren.”

Further reaction, including Iain’s own thoughts, to follow. A feature on the striker will follow shortly.
