A DISCIPLINED, committed performance from Dumbarton denied high flyers Heart of Midlothian at the Rock this afternoon, in a hard-fought match that ended 0-0.

Sons held their own in a competitive first half which saw some spicy challenges and plenty of action across the park.

A double save from Danny Rogers and a brilliantly timed tackle from Andy Graham kept the home side level.

At the other end, Chris Kane came nearest to scoring for Sons, though there were half chances for both teams.

Towards the end of the first 45 minutes Hearts started to look more lively and the home side were pressed back.

The game swung back and forth after the break. Dumbarton had some early momentum, but the visitors enjoyed the advantage in the last 30 mins.

The Edinburgh side struck the bar shortly before full-time. Kane also came close to taking a winner for Sons, firing just past the post.

Dumbarton thoroughly deserved their point against the Championship leaders and were greeted by rapturous applause at the end.

Skipper Andy Graham (pictured) was the Sonstrust Man of the Match.
