BOSS POSITIVE ABOUT LEAGUE CHALLENGE

Monday 3rd August 2015

DUMBARTON boss Stevie Aitken and his squad are fired up for the beginning of the Championship season this coming Saturday, when Hibernian are the first visitors to the Cheaper Insurance Direct Stadium.

There was disappointment at the Scottish League Cup first round defeat to East Fife on Saturday, but the gaffer says the appropriate lessons have been learned from that.

“We dominated most of the game at Methil, but didn’t take our chances and paid the price,” he commented.

“We paid the price for that, because if you get to a penalty shoot-out it’s always a lottery.

“However, we have performed really well overall in pre-season and cup games, and we are definitely up for the challenge ahead.

“Hibs are obviously one of the four teams people expect to be competing for promotion to the Premiership this season.

“But we know what we have to do, and we are determined to do it.”

A full match report and photos are now available from the East Fife game on 1st August.
