BOSS AITKEN REACTS TO FAZ MOVING TO STRANRAER

Friday 20th January 2017

DUMBARTON manager Stevie Aitken has expressed disappointment at Stephen Farrell’s decision to leave but understands his wish to be Stranraer manager.

Farrell was appointed the Stair Park manager earlier today but will continue to work at Dumbarton until 4.45pm tomorrow once the game against Queen of the South is over.

“After today’s announcement, Faz will be by my side for the last time tomorrow”, said Stevie.

“He and I have been in constant discussions since Monday night when Stranraer approached the club looking for permission to speak to him.

“I know through talks with Faz that this was a big decision for him.

“The opportunity to go back to Stranraer, a club we both know very well and have a lot of respect for and at a time when they find themselves in a difficult position was too much for Stevie to knock back.”

Aitken continued : “I have no doubt Stevie with thrive in his new role and help Stranraer to a healthier position in League One.

“Its been a pleasure to work along side Stevie for the last 5 years.

“His hard work, knowledge of football and enthusiasm for the game is second to none and together we’ve enjoyed a lot of success.

“All the focus now is on tomorrow’s game.

“Hopefully we can give Stevie the performance and result he deserves.”
