DUMBARTON were the team out of action in Group E of the Betfred Cup tonight, and remain fourth in the group after the fixtures which took place.
Sons remain above Kilmarnock in the table on goal difference after the Rugby Park side lost 3-0 at home to Dunfermline Athletic.
The Pars top the group having won all three games with no goals conceded.
In the other fixture tonight, Falkirk beat Clyde 2-1. They are second in the group, three points behind Dunfermline and three ahead of Clyde.
Clyde, Dumbarton and Kilmarnock all have two games left to play while Dunfermline and Falkirk have one.
Sons must now win their next tie, at home to Falkirk, in 90 minutes to have any chance of finishing second in the group. That game is on Tuesday, November 10.
Their last game of the group is away to Kilmarnock four days later.
Before that of course, League One is about to get underway, starting at Forfar Athletic on Saturday.
