Keeper Brett Long has stepped up his recovery from a serious Achilles injury by joining West of Scotland League side Beith on loan until January.
The Northern Irishman, who set a club record as he became the quickest Dumbarton goalkeeper to reach 10 league clean sheets during his stay with Sons in his debut season at The Marbill Coaches Stadium, has spent the last 10 months on the sidelines after the injury picked up in January.
That came after he battled back from a serious ankle break that ruled him out of action for six months in the previous campaign.
Now he’ll follow in the footsteps of Sons icon Stephen Grindlay by lining up at Bellsdale Park aa he continues his recovery in the West of Scotland Premier League.
Boss Stevie Farrell said: “Brett has been through an incredibly tough time over the past two years with two very serious injuries, but it’s testament to his character that he has worked to get himself back twice. It’s been a long road, but he has stayed positive and we’re delighted that he’s now able to get back in action.
“This loan spell will be vital in getting him back up to speed and ensures that he’ll be ready to fight hard for the number one shirt when he returns to the club in January.”
