DUMBARTON gained a battling point away to league leaders Falkirk tonight in the latest game in the hectic ending to the season, which ended 1-1.
The first half was goalless, despite Falkirk’s Blair Alston twice going close in the opening stages including an effort which hit the crossbar.
Sons’ best effort in the opening 45 minutes came when Morgyn Neill headed a corner across goal, but there were no takers and the ball was scrambled clear.
Midway through the second half, Dumbarton sensationally led. Rabin Omar (pictured) fired home after a long kick down the pitch from keeper Sam Ramsbottom.
But the lead lasted only seven minutes, as Anton Dowds put away an Akeel Francis cross to level for Falkirk.
With 10 minutes remaining the home side were reduced to 10 men, Mark Durnan seeing red for an elbowing offence against Robert Jones.
However, Sons also finished the game with 10 men, with ‘new’ signing Isaac Layne hobbling off injured minutes after coming on as a substitute.
Right at the end, Ramsbottom preserved a point with a fine save to deny Ben Hall.
Dumbarton now move on to Thursday evening’s game at home to Airdrieonians, who have lost 2-0 to Cove Rangers this evening.
