SONS final match of the summer pre-season ended in a 2-1 defeat at Holm Park last night against Clydebank.

Colin Nish fielded his under-20s squad to face our county neighbours and despite an excellent start to the match through a wonderful goal by Donald McCallum, Sons eventually lost the game.

Despite the positive beginnings, Dumbarton’s opening goal was quickly cancelled out by the home team before the Bankies added a second 5 mins ahead of the half-time break.

Sons struggled in the second period to get back on level terms with Lumsden called into action several times in the Dumbarton goal.

Team: Lumsden, Martin, Hainey, Lightbody, McLaughlin, Whitefield, Cook, McKerracher, Fleming, D McCallum, Hopkins. Subs : C McCallum, Coleman, Kelly, Clark, Pearson, Smith, Adger (GK).
