Bang! Bang! Deryn Lang is a Son

Striker Deryn Lang has become boss Frank McKeown’s first new addition of the summer, joining after finishing last season as Stranraer’s top scorer.

The frontman, 26, netted 14 times for the Blues last season – becoming the first Stranraer player to net double figures in a league season since Innes Cameron in 2018/19, and being named William Hill League 2 Player of the Month for December.

Now, after 108 appearances and 27 goals for the Blues, he’s a Son.

Deryn moved to Stranraer following a prolific stint at Lanark United and his form has now earned him a one year deal at The Rock – sponsored by Marbill Coaches subject to SFA approval.

Boss Frank McKeown said: “Like most other managers, I thought Deryn would’ve been staying where he was, so I was surprised to hear that he was leaving. It was clear he had lots of interest. He is a player who has always caught my eye for his workrate and pace up the top end of the pitch, so I’m delighted that we’ve managed to secure his services.

“With him and Leighton now signed we have two forwards who netted double figures last season in the squad and they both give us strong options up the top end of the pitch.

“It’s still early in the window, but we’re very pleased with how the squad is shaping up.”
