BAIRNS WERE TOO GOOD

Tuesday 24th November 2020

DUMBARTON’S run of defeats continued when they went down 3-0 to full-time Falkirk at the C & G Systems Stadium this evening.

Both sides had chances in the early minutes, but then Falkirk took charge and it became the Blair Alston show. He missed a chance from a Conor Sammon cross, then crossed for Callumn Morrison to hit home the opener in the 16th minute.

In the 30th minute Alston hit the bar, with Robbie Leitch dragging the loose ball wide, but three minutes later he curled a free kick into the top corner to make it 2-0.

The home side’s best chance of the half came in the 41st minute, when a free kick taken by skipper Stuart Carswell was headed on by Ryan McGeever, but the keeper gathered.

After the break sub Denny Johnstone was unlucky when his effort from fellow sub PJ Crossan’s assist came back off the post. But the Bairns began to dominate again, and in the 76th minute Aidan Connolly picked up a loose ball, rounded keeper Kevin Dabrowski (pictured), and netted for 3-0.

Three minutes from time Johnstone forced a good save from keeper Peter Morrison, but overall it was a comfortable evening for Falkirk, whose three points enabled them to leapfrog Cove Rangers at the top of the League One table.
