DUMBARTON will return to Cappielow next season after Morton lost the play-off quarter-final to Dundee United.

After the Terrors won the first leg 2-1, they won the second leg comfortably at Tannadice tonight to progress.

Dundee United will now go on to face Falkirk in the play-off semi-final, while Morton join Sons, Queen of the South, Dunfermline, St Mirren and Livingston in next season’s Championship.

Meanwhile, the play-offs for promotion to the Championship continue tomorrow, with both semi-finals poised.

Airdrieonians have a narrow 1-0 lead as they go to Alloa for the second leg, while Raith Rovers and Brechin City are level at 1-1 ahead of their meeting at Stark’s Park.

The two winners on aggregate after tomorrow’s second legs will meet in the final next week, also over two ties.
