AWAY RUN CONTINUES AT FIRHILL

Tuesday 8th February 2022

DUMBARTON make the short journey to Glasgow tonight for the second of three away matches in a week, taking on Queen’s Park.

Having been well beaten by the Spiders twice already this season, Sons have a score to settle in one of the oldest fixtures in Scottish football.

And after draws with two promotion-chasing sides in the last two outings, they are hopeful of going one better against another such team this evening.

Queen’s Park are currently fourth, while a victory tonight will move Dumbarton into at least eighth place in cinch League One.

Manager Stevie Farrell said: “There might be a few league places between us and opponents of late, but we’ve shown that we can compete with them.

“We showed at Montrose on Saturday that we’re not on the pitch to be messed about. Anything that teams take from us has to be earned.

“Queen’s Park will certainly be trying to earn the points tonight in their bid to compete for promotion, and we have to make sure we stop them.

“We’ve gained decent points in the last two games, so we mustn’t undo that good work by being beaten tonight. We must continue to be brave and ready for the challenge.”

After failing a pre-match fitness check on Saturday, Ross MacLean will again face one tonight to see if he can return. Ryan McGeever and Kristoffer Syvertsen remain out.

Supporters making the trip are reminded that entry is by pre-purchased ticket only, with details as per our previous story.

If you can’t make it tonight, live streaming is available.

Greg Aitken is the referee this evening, and will be assisted by Paul O’Neill and Jordan Cousland.

Kick-off tonight is 7.45pm.
