DUMBARTON’S pre-season workout continued in Edinburgh this afternoon, with another good performance ending in a 3-0 win over East of Scotland Premier Division side Civil Service Strollers.
There were chances at both ends in the first half, but it was not until five minutes after the break that Sons, who had most of the game, opened the scoring.
Chris Turner was the man to put Dumbarton on the score sheet first, latching on to a useful pass and firing the ball across the ‘keeper and into the net .
He was followed by Megginson, who was played in behind the Civil Service Strollers’ defence and rounded the goalie to finish smoothly.
Ten minutes before the end Dumbarton made it three. This time it was Steven McDougall who received the ball on the edge of the area. He controlled it well and side-footed past the ‘keeper to give the visitors an assured win.
Sons manager Ian Murray described the game as important in helping “to ensure we hit the competitive matches with momentum.”
He added: “On behalf of Dumbarton FC we wish the Strollers all the best for the season ahead.”
