JOHN STEELE, Dumbarton FC’s chairman, continues to look positively towards the rest of the season, with the search for a manager having proceeded apace and hopes of an announcement shortly.
Meanwhile, on the pitch, it was another hard afternoon for injury-hit Sons at Gayfield, with Dumbarton losing 3-1 to Arbroath despite taking the lead early on.
Much has been made of the difficult start to the season, which has not seen Dumbarton hit the heights they hoped for when the campaign began.
Despite it all, chairman Steele views the impending appointment of a new manager as key to beginning to turn the Sons’ fortunes around.
Forward-looking as ever, he declared: “It has undoubtedly been a tough few months, but we are confident that a fresh managerial appointment can speed up the progress we want to make.
“For a number of candidates, our vacancy has proved an enticing prospect, and we anticipate an announcement shortly.
“The injury situation has made a huge dent in initial expectations, but we still believe we can encourage a group of players who can do the job for us as that begins to change.
“The promise we make is that once a new manager is confirmed, we will strive together towards our aim of making the rest of this season memorable in a positive way.”
