DUMBARTON enter the second half of the pre-season friendly programme tonight with a home game against Championship outfit Morton.
Boosted by beating Motherwell behind closed doors on Saturday, Sons now face the men from Greenock, followed by Clydebank this Saturday.
The first competitive game, at home to St Mirren in the Premier Sports Cup group stage, is looming large and manager Stevie Farrell is continuing to work hard to prepare for it.
The gaffer said: “Any victory over Premiership opposition looks good and we certainly wouldn’t turn it down, but the main thing was to bank more minutes ahead of the new season.
“That will be the case again tonight and we know that Morton will give us a good test, working towards their own aim of a good season in the Championship.
“It’s set to be a warm evening tonight, so that will test us even more and we will need to ensure we manage things appropriately.
“We’re only 11 days away from competitive business starting and while we feel things are on course, we’ll continue to work hard on preparation.”
Stevie added: “We’re really looking forward to playing in front of our fans tonight and I personally am excited to manage Dumbarton at home with the fans there for the first time.”
Team captain Stuart Carswell could play his first game of pre-season tonight, but Pat Boyle and Paul Paton remain out.
As with Saturday, Stevie will run the rule over a number of trialists over the course of the 90 minutes.
Supporters attending tonight’s game should have received an email detailing entry arrangements. If you have not received this email then please email jsibbald.dfc@gmail.com as soon as possible.

Tonight’s game has a 7.30pm kick-off.
