SONS hit the road tomorrow for a trip to Kirkcaldy to play Raith Rovers at Starks Park.
The Kirkcaldy side, following a promising start to the season, are now in the thick of the battle in the bottom half of the Championship. Sons boss Stevie Aitken, who will be assisted by Ian Durrant for the first time, is looking forward to the challenge.
He said: “We go to Kirkcaldy with confidence, knowing that we can win there. In the last three games we have been a little unlucky but have shown that we can compete and that’s pleasing.”
It’s been a busy week for both clubs with our hosts being involved in two tough Scottish Cup ties against Hearts, including 120 mins of football midweek. Sons have been active behind the scenes with Durrant coming on board as assistant and with the transfer window closure looming, plans for squad additions have been made.
Garry Fleming is out of tomorrow’s Starks Park encounter, but Daniel Harvie (pictured) who hobbled off last week against QoS is expected to make it. Lewis Vaughan is ineligible and Grant Gallagher remains sidelined. Jamie Ewings is back in light training, but is unlikely to make the squad for the match.
Mat Northcroft will be in charge of tomorrow’s game as referee. This will be the 4th match he has refereed in season 16/17 involving the Sons. Gary Hiland and Kevin McElhinney.
