EVERYONE connected with Dumbarton FC joins people across the land in sending heartiest congratulations to Andy Murray on his fine Wimbledon victory today.
The young Scot’s tennis triumph is a boost to us all, not least to long-standing friends and family in the town of Dunblane.
Sons players, staff and supporters were quick to join the celebrations on social media sites this afternoon.
“Talk about fighting spirit!” tweeted Ally McKerracher, who netted for Dumbarton in the friendly match against SPLers Hibernian at the Bet Butler Stadium a week ago.
“Absolutely unbelievable from Andy Murray… well done fella,” added striker Bryan Prunty, whose own spectacular and award-winning overhead kick goal against Livingston received similar plaudits recently.
The name Murray is known to be a winner in and around Dumbarton, and the Sons gaffer is delighted for his namesake, too.
But manager Ian Murray’s attention remains firmly fixed on football, as he and his team gear up for another demanding First Division campaign.
Next up for Sons is a testing friendly against Partick Thistle, last year’s Champions, at the Rock on Saturday 13th July.
Keep the party going by coming along to cheer on the lads! Pay-at-the-gate prices are just £10, with concessions £5.
