IT is with very deep sadness that we have learned that Andy Gemmell, who was formerly a director of Dumbarton FC, has died.
Andy passed away, surrounded by his family at his retirement home in Spain, at the age of 75.
As well as a director, he also made a name for himself as a player, turning out as a winger for Greenock Morton and Bradford City in a short career.
After that, success in business led him to become a director at his hometown club, Greenock Morton, for many years.
This was followed by Andy assisting clubs in financial difficulty at Clydebank, Airdrie, Dumbarton and finally Livingston FC, where Andy was also a founder/director of the company which bought Livingston out of administration in 2009.
The thoughts of everybody at Dumbarton FC are with Andy’s family and friends at this sad time.
