Quantuma Managing Directors Ian Wright and Craig Morrison, the joint administrators of Dumbarton Football Club, have thanked the clubs supporters for their backing in recent weeks – but insist there is still work to be done.
Ian and Craig were appointed last month following the news that the club had entered administration.
A fundraising campaign was launched with the initial target smashed by the Sons support and other kind-hearted members of the footballing community as it now approaches six figures.
The administrators admit it has been a challenging period for all involved but have been encouraged by the response to the fundraising appeal.
Wright said: “Day one was one of the most difficult days of my career. There were meetings with the SPFL, players and coaches, and the fans trust and they were real eye opening meetings about how big the task was ahead of us.
“Following that we launched the GoFundMe and everything turned around.
“It was incredible, the fans stood up and were counted and by close of business on day two we had enough money to be able to confirm to the players we could pay their wages at the end of the month. We are at a point where we are financially okay until the end of March.”
Morrison added: “We’ve had a fabulous response to date but there is still a little bit to go and an extra push needed from all of the fans. We will probably update the target in the next couple of weeks.
“Another 30 thousand pounds would be what’s required and hopefully everyone can do their best to meet that target in the early part of next year.”
Wright has encouraged the Dumbarton faithful to keep up their fantastic backing so far and continue to support if they can.
He said: “First and foremost, please continue to support the club and come along to games and support the GoFundMe if you can.
“Keep an eye on the various fundraisers that the fans trust and other fans are arranging that will continue to go on over the next few months, all of which is going to help reach that target that we need to make it to the end of the season.
Morrison is aware that the clubs supporters will be interested in future developments and hopes to be able to provide more information in the coming weeks.
He explained: “We’ve had huge amounts of interest speaking to us about potentially purchasing the club. We’re not really in a position as it stands to have meaningful conversations with those parties but we hope to progress in the next month.
“It has been widely reported that there are several transactions that have happened prior to our appointment that we are looking into. It’s difficult to say much more at the moment but we hope to update fans where we are by the end of January.”
