AN HISTORIC DAY FOR DUMBARTON

Sunday 28th April 2013

SONS secured safety in the Irn Bru SFL First Division with their away win at Central Park yesterday, and professional snapper Donald Fullarton was there once again to capture the moment.

His exclusive match pictures and a full report from the game, reflecting all the drama of a memorable occasion, can be found online here.

With sixth place in the second tier of Scottish football still possible, the achievement of the 2012/13 season amounts to the highest league finish for Dumbarton since 1985/6, the year after the historic Premier Division campaign.

Gaffer Ian Murray told the media: “The players deserve all the credit. Heads were down when I came in, but the thing I’ve noticed is there is something special about this dressing room. The turnaround has been incredible.”

Now attention is focusing on the final game at the Bet Butler Stadium on Saturday 4th May, when Sons take on champions Partick Thistle, whom they have beaten once already this season.
