A MAGNIFICENT SEVEN!

Saturday 17th September 2022

DUMBARTON have made it seven wins out of seven in the league with a narrow and hard earned 1-0 victory against Bonnyrigg Rose at home.

The first clear chance of the game fell to Declan Byrne for Dumbarton on 12 minutes, but the goalkeeper saved smartly at close range.

Soon afterwards, a David Wilson free kick was met by Martin McNiff, but the defender’s shot was over.

But on 28 minutes Dumbarton were awarded a penalty for handball after a corner was flicked on.

Stuart Carswell (pictured) stepped up to mark his 200th game for Sons with a goal from the spot.

The lead was sought to be extended in the early stages of the second half, but Dumbarton squandered a number of chances.

And those missed opportunities were nearly punished with two minutes left. Hearts were in mouths in the home end as Kieran Hall’s shot rolled across goal and wide.

However, the resistance was enough and the incredible start to the league season continues.

Dumbarton’s next game is away to Stranraer on Tuesday night. They have no game next Saturday.
