Manager Ian Murray has looking to put league form to the back of his mind as he turns his attention to facing his old club in the Scottish League Cup.
He said: “It’s another big game for us and we are all looking forward to going to Hibs.
“Easter Road is a great stage to play football and it’ll be great experience for our lads.”
Sons last game against the Easter Road club was funnily enough also on a Tuesday night and on Scottish Cup duty – on 2nd February 1988, all of 26 years ago.
It wasn’t a good day for Dumbarton as we crashed out of the cup on the back of a 3-0 scoreline, having held Hibs to a 0-0 draw the week previous at Boghead.
Sons’ team that day was: Arthur: Montgomerie, Cranmer, Martin, McCahill, Cairns, Docherty, McCoy, Houston, J. Rooney, O. Coyle. Subs : McGowan, MacIver
Out of 51 matches against Hibs, Dumbarton have scored 100 goals and are unbeaten in 27 games (16 wins plus 11 draws). On 25th August 1973, in a league cup tie, Sons defeated Hibs 4-1 at Boghead, with goals from Wallace, McCormack, Tom McAdam and Jenkins. A repeat of that scoreline will do nicely tomorrow night.
Hibs now sit in eighth position in the SPFL Championship table, with three points. They go into to the game tomorrow on the back of a 1-0 defeat to Falkirk at the weekend, their second loss of the league campaign.
