New era set to kick off

Competitive football returns to The Rock this week for the very first time on our new artificial pitch!

And we’ve got a packed first fortnight of events to make up for lost time.

This Friday, July 31, our U20s welcome Kilmarnock in a friendly, which kicks off a busy schedule of matches.

Entry will be free via the front door and the Bar in the Community Suite will be open – giving fans their first opportunity to enjoy a refreshment before seeing a Dumbarton side playing on the new surface.

That’s quickly followed by the first competitive game of the new era on Sunday, August 2, with our Women’s side welcoming West Park United in the ScottishPower Regional League Cup.

Kick-off in that one is 2pm, with entry also free and the Community Suite bar will be open once again.

On Thursday, August 6, you can come down to watch Young Guns from our U14s side take on a Prep4Pro team involving stars of the future from the USA, with kick-off at 5.30pm.

That is followed by an open training session for our men’s first team from 7pm.

Again, entry to both is totally free and will be via the front door.

The next day club owner Mario Lapointe has thrown open the doors of the stadium to kids under the age of 16 from 6pm, who can check out the surface for the first time – and hear from Mario and other club reps.

We’ll look ahead to the new season, what we’ve got coming for our young fans – and take a quick moment to remind them of their responsibilities coming to games. Any youngster (and their parent or guardian) is welcome along. Just turn up and enter through the front door.

Our men’s side then take to the new surface competitively for the first time on matchday two of the William Hill League 2 season, as they welcome Clyde on Saturday August 8 with tickets available now on Fanbase.

Having been out of town for three months, we’re looking for a bumper crowd to roar Frank and the lads on as the new season kicks off.

And the hectic schedule doesn’t stop there, with two further men’s home games following.

We welcome Airdrieonians in the KDM Evolution Trophy four days later, on Tuesday, August 11, and then Edinburgh City on League 2 duty on Saturday, August 15.

It’s a new era of football in G82, and we want you to be part of it!
