Midfielder Lewis Spence is the latest addition to Frank McKeown’s squad for the new season, inking a two-year deal at The Rock – sponsored by Marbill Coaches, subject to SFA approval.
A title winner with East Kilbride, Lewis played 39 times for Mick Kennedy’s side last season – captaining the K Park club on a number of occasions – but now makes the move to G82.
The 30-year-old started his career with Dunfermline Athletic, before moving to Neil McCann’s Dundee – where he played 31 times in the Premiership.
More experience in the top tier followed with Ross County, who he helped to the Championship title in 2019, with Lewis also turning out for Scunthorpe United, Hamilton Accies and Edinburgh City.
Lewis made the move to Kilby in 2023, where he played a key role in winning six trophies, including back-to-back promotions from the Lowland League to League 1, and now he’s checked in at The Rock.
Boss Frank McKeown said: “Lewis was a standout performer in League 2 last season with East Kilbride, so we’re delighted to be able to bring him to the club.
“He’s got great experience at a very good level and in successful teams – and is a proven winner. Lewis had a number of offers and was clearly in demand for his ability to dictate games from the middle of the pitch.
“Although we are well aware of Lewis’ quality on the pitch, the thing that attracted me most after meeting up with him was his desire to be successful again. It’s this mindset that will make Lewis a big player for us in the coming years.”
Meanwhile goalkeeper Shay Kelly has left the club after his contract was terminated by mutual consent. We thank Shay for his service and wish him all the best for the future.
The gaffer added: “After a number of conversations it was agreed that it would be best for both the club and Shay that we reach an agreement to let him move on and pursue the opportunity for regular football elsewhere.”
