Tommy targets success as a Son
The last time Tommy Robson and Mikey Doyle lined up in the same William Hill League 2 team they helped Queen’s Park to back-to-back promotions.
Now they’re back in the same side at The Rock sponsored by Marbill Coaches with Tommy excited for the challenge that lies ahead after inking a two year deal to join The Sons from Clyde.
He told DFC’s Jack Cranmer: “Not long ago, I got a message from the manager asking to sit down and have a coffee. So I went along, and it went really well. We sat down and spoke about the club and the direction they want to go in, and I really liked what he had to say.
“I know the league quite well now, I’ve played in it for a number of seasons, so that will help get us to where we want to go.
“Mikey was a massive influence on coming. I played with him for three years with Queen’s Park and they were probably the three most enjoyable years I’ve had here in Scotland, so he was a big influence.”
And he says the Sons fans can expect some driving attacking displays from the left-side of defence.
Tommy added: “I love to go forward. That’s the biggest part of my game. I like to get forward, but I also like to defend.
“I think everyone’s hopes are that we’ll challenge to win the league. Obviously we will give it a go in the cup games, but the league is our top priority.
