Dumbarton forward Ryan Wallace has informed the club that he is set to retire from football with immediate effect.

The 33-year-old had planned to step back from football at the end of the season, but has instead made the decision to retire now.

‘Waldo’ joined the club in June 2022 and went on to score 10 goals across 58 appearances for the Sons, most recently against Peterhead in January.

As well as Dumbarton, Ryan played for Hearts, Raith Rovers, Airdrie, Albion Rovers, Stranraer, Arbroath, East Fife and Dunfermline Athletic, netting 130 career goals.

Boss Stevie Farrell commented: “Losing Ryan is obviously a real blow but we completely understand and respect his decision for family and work reasons.

“Ryan was a model professional in his time with the club and someone that will be a miss off of the park, as well as on it.

“He has had a great career, not just with Dumbarton, but across Scottish football and he leaves with all of our best wishes.”

All at DFC wish Ryan the best in his retirement and he will always be welcome back at the Rock.
