20S LOSE TO AYR UNITED

Tuesday 10th February 2015

Sons development team suffered an evening of frustration at Murray Park yesterday losing 2-0 to Ayr United.

Dumbarton fell behind after 17 mins and couldn’t draw level before the half-time break.

Sustained pressure in the second half nearly brought about a deserved equaliser only for the game to be killed off with just 2 mins remaining when United sneaked a second goal.

Coach Mark Spalding said : “The guys applied themselves correctly in the game and are rightly disappointed not to have taken something from the game.

“The killer goal, scored just before the end, when we were pushing forward was tough to take.”

Mark was upbeat about the performance overall.

He continued: “Our centre-halves were up against an experienced campaigner in Craig Beattie and coped well.

“We showed a desire to work hard and that was pleasing.”
